LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's basketball team rallied to defeat visiting Bridgewater College 71-58 Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game. LC avenged an 81-73 overtime loss in Bridgewater earlier in the season.
The Hornets led 19-12 with seven minutes left in the first half, and remained in the lead 22-18 two minutes later. The Eagles closed out the half on a 13-6 run, fueled by 11 points and three three-pointers by DJ Caldwell, to take a 31-28 edge into intermission.
Trailing 39-36 at the 13:36 mark of the second half, LC went on a 13-1 surge to go ahead 49-40 midway through the second half. The Eagles quickly scored the next seven points to cut the lead to two. The teams traded baskets before Lynchburg finally was able to pull away with a 16-4 run to put the game out of reach.
Senior forward Alex Graves contributed game-highs of 19 points and eight rebounds despite sitting out much of the first half with foul trouble. He netted 17 of his points after intermission. Junior guard Zack Burnett scored 18 points with five rebounds and A.J. Hamilton posted 13 points. Lyndon White added nine points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Caldwell led the Eagles (3-11/2-4) with 13 points, while Jesse Case had 12 points. Logan Seacrist had 11 points and six rebounds and Cameron Thurston had nine points.
