Lynchburg Men Outlast Guilford 64-59
GREENSBORO, NC- The Lynchburg College men's basketball team posted an important Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory Wednesday at Guilford College, 64-59. Each team is now 5-2 in league play and tied for third place overall in the conference standings.
Junior guard Zack Burnett scored a game-high 21 points, hitting 9-of-16 shots from the floor to go with four rebounds and four steals. Senior forward Alex Graves just missed a double-double with 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Austen Arnold scored nine points, while Lyndon White and A.J. Hamilton each netted six.
Justen Best had a team-high 12 for the Quakers (10-6), while Carson Long added 11. Will Freeman snared 13 rebounds, 10 on the offensive end, and added nine points. The Hornets held Guilford to just 31 percent (21-67) shooting from the floor, while LC converted on 45 percent (24-53) of its shots. GC held a 45-33 rebound advantage, including 26 offensive rebounds.
Guilford led 26-24 at halftime and went ahead by eight before LC rallied. The Hornets were ahead by one with 33 seconds left and Graves extended the lead to three on a jumper. The Quakers couldn't convert on their next possession and fouled Arnold with 12 seconds left, but the senior sunk both free throws to seal the game. Graves scored all 15 of his points Wednesday after intermission.
Lynchburg (12-4) is scheduled to travel to Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday for more ODAC play at 2 p.m.
