Lynchburg squared off against #11 Albright Lions on Saturday afternoon and despite a close game on the stat sheet, could not earn a third straight victory. The Lions were coming off a loss to Randolph-Macon on Friday afternoon and looking to rebound and did so, finding a groove and shooting 40% from the floor. Sophomore Molly Shephard scored 13 points and snagged seven rebounds and is the Hornets offensive leader in their first three games, averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds a game
Game Breakdown:
- Junior Olivia DeFrancesco was one rebound shy of recording a double-double as she drained four shots, three from beyond the arc, for 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds
- The Lions had the hot hand from behind the 3PT line, shooting 46.7% 7-15) compared to the Hornets 24% (6-25)
- Handing in a solid performance down in the block, junior Caroline Naumann recorded 11 rebounds and five points
- Senior Charmaine Hairston added 10 points and an assist while senior Sarah Coronel and junior Brittany Afolabi-Brown combined for 9 points.
Beyond the Stat Sheet:
- DeFrancesco tied a career best in assists, recording six on Saturday afternoon
- Albright got out to a quick lead, starting the game on a 10-0 run and built a cushion in the 4th quarter going on a 13-0 run
