40 Minutes Later

The Lynchburg Men's Basketball dropped another heartbreaker on Friday night in the opening game of the Doc Greene Tournament after a layup rolled just off the rim as time expired. The Spartans had the advantage down low, thanks to their front court standing at an average height of 6ft 5in. Lynchburg was still able to hang with Case Western, causing turnovers and scoring off of them but the Hornets could not overcome an uncharachteristically bad shooting night.

Game Breakdown

- After scoring eight in the season-opener, senior Zack Burnett has reached double digit points in every game since after finishing the night with a team-high 18 points to along with two steals

- Senior Jay Allen has also recorded six games with double digit points, registering 16 points on

- Usually a daedal passer, freshman Chance Greene had the hot hand from beyond the arc for the Hornets, scoring all nine of his points on 3-5 shooting from three point land

- Senior Lyndon White and sophomore Connor Schroeder  contributed with 10 rebounds each

Beyond the Stat Sheet

- A rarity so far this season, the Hornets were outrebounded (36-44) and outscored down low

- With his double digit rebound night, Schroeder is now averaging 8.9 rebounds/game which is good for third in the conference

- Lynchburg had their best night from the free throw line, shooting 86.7% (13-15 FT) from the charity stripe

A Look Ahead

Following tough back-to-back losses, the Hornets will look to right the ship in the Consolation Game of the Doc Greene Tournament at 2:00 p.m. Saturday where they will face the loser of the Juniata/St. Joe's (VT) game which finished late Friday night.
