#15 Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 19-2 Win over Bridgewater
LYNCHBURG, VA - After scoring 10 times in the first quarter, the Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team rolled to a 19-2 victory over Bridgewater College in Saturday afternoon's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams.
LC quickly jumped out to gain the lead, scoring the game's first 12 goals before the Eagles found the back of the net in the second period. Senior attack
Austin Stewart scored his game-high four goals during that span, leading the Hornets offensively along with
Aaron Murphy's two goals and three assists.
A total of 11 other Hornets found the back of the net throughout the contest.
Ryan Kardux and
Andrew Thomas had two goals each,
Chris Cornelius and
Chase Boyer each had a goal and two assists, while
Colin McGuire,
Brooks Melvin,
Chris Camarca,
Dane Angell,
Nick Willertz,
Sean Ahearn, and
Evan Lombardo rounded out the rest of the scoring effort.
Senior face-off specialist
Bobby Distler was 12 for 13 at the X, giving the Hornets numerous possessions throughout the first part of the game. LC's defense forced 20 turnovers and dominated the ground balls 42-18.
CJ Santora led the Lynchburg net-minders with four saves.
Steven Cosgrove and Thomas Maher each had a tally for the Eagles (4-2/0-1 ODAC), while goalkeepers Andrew Buss and Kevin Metzger combined for 16 saves.
Lynchburg (2-3/1-0) plays once more at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Endicott prior to traveling to Stevenson over the weekend for the Mustang Classic.
