Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Methodist University's men's basketball came from behind in the waning minutes to knock off Lynchburg College, 86-81, in Saturday's non-conference affair.
Lynchburg sophomore Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.) topped the 20-point plateau for the third time this season with a team-high 21 points. Junior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) and junior forward Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.) added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Austin Wrighten chipped in eight points, seven rebounds, and six assists for the Hornets.
Davion Ayaberreno scored a game-high 26 points to lead the way for Methodist. The Monarchs picked up 26 of those points from the free throw line, shooting 83.9 percent at the stripe.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lynchburg was sluggish after the tip-off, trailing by eight points six minutes into the contest. Trailing 18-10 with 12:49 to go in the first, the Hornets used an 8-0 run to tie the game and, after three ties, took their first lead of the game, 25-23, at the 8:25 mark.
- Greene's layup with 16 seconds before halftime sent LC into the break with a 45-41 lead. The sophomore guard had 16 of his 21 points in the first half.
- Lynchburg extended its lead early in the second half, pushing the advantage to 75-61, the largest of the game, after a pair of Brett Buisson (Henrico, Va.) free throws with 8:14 to go. But the Monarchs quickly closed the gap, scoring the next 13 points in a three-minute span to cut the LC lead to one.
- Troynell Reese's dunk with 2:20 remaining gave Methodist the lead for good.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg will hit the road for a pair of mid-week games, starting with non-conference opponent Averett on Monday at 7 p.m. in Danville, Va. The Hornets will open up Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Wednesday in Virginia Beach, Va. against Virginia Wesleyan University.
