Box Score Danville, Va. -- Averett scored 22 of the final 27 points to complete an 81-73 comeback victory over the Lynchburg College men's basketball team on Monday night.
Sophomore guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.) scored 24 points -- his fourth-straight 20-point game -- in the losing effort, and junior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) added 11 points.
Averett's James Contreras Jr. led all scorers with 27 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greene scored 15 of his 24 points in the first half, going 5-for-6 from the field to lead Lynchburg to a 36-26 halftime lead.
- The Hornets opened up a 17-point lead with 14:32 remaining the game, but then Averett began closing the gap. The Cougars tied the game at 68 with 4:54 to play and finished the game on a 13-5 run.
- Averett shot 59.4 percent (19-for-32) from the field in the second half and won the battle on the boards, 46-32.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg will open up Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night at 7 in Virginia Beach, Va. at Virginia Wesleyan University.
