Lynchburg, Va. -- Caroline Naumann (Mechanicsville, Va.) tallied her 1,000th-career point Wednesday night as the Lynchburg College women's basketball team blew past visiting Roanoke, 67-44, for the Hornets' sixth-straight victory.

Naumann's layup with 7:00 to play in the game gave her 21 points for the contest and topped the millennium mark. It also gave LC a commanding 63-32 lead. The senior forward finished with 21 points and five rebounds. She became the 10th Hornet in program history to reach 1,000 points.

Senior forward Brittany Afolabi-Brown (Montgomery Village, Md.) scored 15 points to go with four boards, and senior guard Olivia DeFrancesco (Greensboro, N.C.) piled up 11 points, give rebounds, and four assists. Junior wing Alex Allen (China Grove, N.C.) snagged a game-high nine rebounds.

Roanoke's Laura McManimen led the Maroons with 14 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- After a close first period, Lynchburg out-scored the Maroons, 18-5, in the second to take control of the game. Naumann and Afolabi-Brown scored six points apiece during the decisive period.

- Naumann added seven points in the third period to come within two of her milestone as LC expanded the lead to 61-32 with 10 minutes to play.

- Lynchburg forced 24 Maroons turnovers while committing just eight of their own.


LOOKING AHEAD

Lynchburg will hit the road this Saturday for Eastern Mennonite, where they'll play the back end of a men's-women's doubleheader with the Royals at a 4:30 p.m. tip.
