Box Score Winchester, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's soccer team closed out the regular season on the road Tuesday with a commanding 4-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory at Shenandoah.
The Pikunas brothers accounted for half the Hornets' scoring as senior defender Ryan Pikunas (Chesterfield, Va.) and freshman midfielder Patrick Pikunas (Chesterfield, Va.) each scored his first goal of the 2018 season.
Junior midfielder Jack Ashby (Lewes, Del.) and sophomore midfielder Ben Mackey (Leesburg, Va.) also scored for Lynchburg.
The defense posted its 10th shutout of the season as senior goalkeeper Dylan McLaurin (Stafford, Va.) made four saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lynchburg wasted no time asserting its control in the match with a pair of third-minute goals. Ashby drew first blood thanks to an assist from senior defender Austin Kues (High Point, N.C.), and Ryan Pikunas scored an unassisted goal just 11 seconds later.

The visiting Hornets made it 3-0 in the 24th minute when senior midfielder Dan Friedberg (Blacksburg, Va.) played a high ball over the top that Mackey ran down and finished from the right side of the box.

Patrick Pikunas tallied his name in the scorebook with an 83rd-minute goal thanks to freshman forward Sean Kennedy's (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) first-career assist.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg enters the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament as the No. 2 seed and will play host to the to-be-determined seventh seed Sunday, Oct. 28. The time of the match will be determined later this week.
