Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Three University of Lynchburg women's basketball players scored in double figures, the Hornets shot over 60 percent from 3-point territory, and Lynchburg captured an 82-50 season-opening victory over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday evening.
Senior forward Alex Allen (China Grove, N.C.) tallied 21 points and six rebounds, going 9-for-14 from the field and nailed all three of her free-throw attempts to lead the way for Lynchburg.
Senior forward Molly Shephard (Charlottesville, Va.) notched a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, and sophomore guard Carolyn Noe (Fairfax, Va.) sank a quartet of 3-pointers to rack up 12 points.

The Hornets started the game on an 8-0 run, powered by back-to-back 3s from Noe and freshman guard Emily Elliott (High Point, N.C.), and never looked back. Lynchburg led 29-15 after the first period.

Shephard had six points and six rebounds to help the Hornets put the game away, leading 52-22 at half.

Freshman forward Erin Green (Poolesville, Md.) scored nine points in her collegiate debut, while sophomore guard Maggie Quarles (Roanoke, Va.) also chipped in nine. Elliott had a game-high seven assists.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg will remain home Tuesday, Nov. 13 to take on Averett in another non-conference matchup. The Cougars and Hornets tip at 7 p.m.
