Box Score Lynchburg, Va.-- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team kicked off the Old Dominion Athletic Conference season with a 60-48 victory over their crosstown rival, the Randolph WildCats, Saturday afternoon.
Senior forward Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.) led the team with 14 points, three steals, and two blocks, followed by junior guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.), who earned 13 points and went 3-for-6 from behind the arc. Senior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) grabbed seven rebounds for the Hornets and racked up eight points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets took an early 11-0 lead against the WildCats, but both teams buckled down defensively after the run. Randolph managed to close the gap after a critical 3 by Sammy Hooper tied the game, 20-20.

Both teams earned two more baskets keeping the tie even at 24-24 until Randolph guard Brian Smith made a last-second layup to give Randolph the advantage going into the second half.

Several minutes into the second half, Lynchburg was down 35-29 until a steal by senior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) led to a fast-break basket by Wrighten which sparked a 17-2 Lynchburg run.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg will break for Thanksgiving before the Hornets continue the conference season Sunday, Nov. 25 in Turner Gym against the Eastern Mennonite Royals at 2 p.m.
