Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's basketball team got the season off on the right foot Thursday night with a 75-57 win over visiting Ferrum.
Senior forward Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.) led the way for the Hornets with 18 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore forward T.C. Thacker (Madison Heights, Va.) notched his second-career double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
Senior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) also played tough, tallying 16 points and eight rebounds.
The Hornets won the battle on the boards, 52-29, but shot just 5-for-24 from 3-point territory. Seventeen of those rebounds were offensive.
Thursday's contest did not count in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings. The two teams will square off again Wednesday, Feb. 6 for an ODAC bout in Ferrum.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lynchburg led from wire-to-wire, starting the game on an 11-3 run capped by a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.), the first of his eight points off the bench.

The Hornets carried a 41-30 lead into halftime thanks to Schroeder's 10 first-half points.

Wrighten helped lock down the win after intermission with 11 points in the final 20 minutes.

Lynchburg continues its season-opening seven-game homestand Sunday, Nov. 11 at noon with a non-conference matchup against St. Mary's (Md.).
