Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team finished the weekend strong with a 16-5 win against the Quakers of Guilford in a cold, snowy Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup Saturday night on Shellenberger Field.
The Hornets were led by junior attackman Evan Lombardo (Franklin Park, N.J.), who scored five goals, two assists, and one ground ball. Sophomore attackman Trammel Robinson (Memphis, Tenn.) had a good showing, collecting three goals and an assist. Freshman midfielder Mason Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored his first-career goal for Lynchburg as well.
Senior goalie CJ Santora (Tewksbury, Mass.) held his own in the net with nine saves and four ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lynchburg dominated the first quarter as Lombardo scored three unassisted goals to give the Hornets an early lead.

Junior face-off man Bo Delaney (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and Lombardo kicked off the second quarter in high gear, each scoring a goal in the first 30 seconds. Guilford attack Derek Zacatenco finally got the Quakers on the board bring the score to 6-1. Senior Ryan Kardux (Wayne, N.J.) ended the first half with a goal assisted by Lombardo that made it 10-2 in favor of the Hornets.

The Hornets were able to added another four goals in the third quarter, as Lynchburg's defense only allowed Guilford four shots, two of which were saved by Santora.

Guilford managed to push out three more goals in the final quarter, but Lynchburg stayed on for the 16-5 victory.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Hornets will travel to Virginia Beach on Saturday, April 14 to face off with the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan at 1 p.m. in their next installment of ODAC play.
