Box Score Salem, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's 21st-ranked men's basketball team fell behind early on the road at Roanoke Wednesday night and never could chase down the Maroons, falling 78-56 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference heavyweight bout.
Junior guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.) led the way for Lynchburg with 23 points -- he was 5-for-10 from 3-point territory -- and three assists.
Senior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Hornets, and senior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) dished out a team-best six assists.
Josh Freund racked up 29 points and 13 rebounds for the Maroons.
It marked the third-straight loss for the Hornets, who started the season 17-1, the best start in program history.

Roanoke began the game on a 7-2 run and extended the lead to 28-10 by the 8:24 mark in the first half on a 3-point barrage by Tripp Greene

After a Hornets' timeout, Chance Greene scored 16 points in the final 7:12 of the first half to help Lynchburg cut the lead 39-26 at the break.

Lynchburg cut the Maroons' lead to 11 on three occasions just after halftime, but Roanoke rattled off a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 55-35 with 12:31 to play and coasted to the victory.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg will return home to Wayne Proffitt Court Saturday, Feb. 2 for a 2 p.m. tip with another ODAC foe in the Eagles of Bridgewater.
