Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team won its second Old Dominion Athletic Conference game in three days Wednesday night with a 66-50 dispatching of Hollins.
Freshman forward Kate Kolb (Morris Plains, N.J.) continued a breakout week with her first-career double-double, tallying 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Senior forward Molly Shephard (Charlottesville, Va.) contributed 13 points and eight boards to the Hornets' cause, while sophomore guard Carolyn Noe (Fairfax, Va.) -- 10 points, two steals -- and freshman guard Lizzie Davis (Knoxville, Tenn.) -- nine points, five assists, five steals -- also played solid games.
Kayla Surles led Hollins with 15 points and four assists.
The victory extends Lynchburg's current win streak over HU to 10 dating back to January 2012.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lynchburg started the game with an 8-0 run, but Hollins climbed back into the game with seven straight points of its own, and the first period was those thereout, ending with Lynchburg ahead, 18-16. Kolb had five points and four rebounds in the quarter, but Hollins finished on another 7-0 run.

The visitors extended their run to start the second, making it 13 unanswered and a 22-18 game on a pair of Surles 3-pointers.

Lynchburg put a stop to the run with a timeout, and shortly after, a pair of Noe's buckets set the Hornets on a 17-0 tear that saw them end the half ahead 37-24.

Davis scored all nine of her points in the third, and Shephard added six points, four of them at the free throw stripe, in the fourth to help Lynchburg maintain its lead.
