Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Luke Romeo scored 20 of his career-high 23 points before halftime as University of Lynchburg's men's basketball team cruised to a 93-69 win over Methodist in Sunday's finale of the Wayne Proffitt Classic.
The junior guard knocked down six of the nine 3-pointers he attempted in the game en route to the career-best total, while T.C. Thacker added 22 points, six rebounds, and three blocks for the Hornets (4-1).
Tharon Suggs (14 points, five rebounds) and Chance Greene (13 points, six rebounds, three assists) also scored in double figures for Lynchburg.
The Hornets led from wire to wire, expanding an early lead to 29-15 midway through the first half after Romeo sank the free-throw on a four-point play. Lynchburg led by 12, 47-35, at halftime and expanded the lead consistently throughout the second half, leading by as much as 24 late in the contest.
Dante Burden led the Monarchs (3-1) with 17 points and five steals.
Lynchburg's win streak now sits at three games, and the Hornets will put that to the test next weekend in Newport News at the CAC/ODAC Challenge. Lynchburg is set to play Mary Washington Friday, Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m., followed by Saturday's 7 p.m. contest with host and No. 9-ranked Christopher Newport.
