Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Junior T.C. Thacker recorded double-digit points for the seventh time this season as he finished with 24 against Eastern Mennonite Saturday afternoon as the Univeristy of Lynchburg men's basketball team defeated the Royals, 90-51, in front of a loud home crowd.
The Hornets (6-4, 2-1 ODAC) received contributions from their entire bench as each player for the Hornets saw the floor. Senior Cody Lang scored 13, junior Reggie Davis dropped 12, and sophomore Dow Dunton had 15 off the bench.
The Royals (1-7, 0-2) led for only 18 seconds in the first half after Josh Whelan made a jumper. The Hornets quickly came back to tie it 2-2 after senior Chance Greene made a layup. Lynchburg never trailed for the rest of the game. Lynchburg dominated the first half as Thacker scored 15 of his 24 points in the half and went a perfect 3-for-3 from the line. Dunton scored 11 in the half and was 3-for-4 from the line. The Hornets went into the break leading 46-27.
The Hornets continued to control in the second half as they went on a 12-0 run from the 16:35 mark to 13:56, with Davis scoring eight of the 12 points -- four of them coming off of two thunderous dunks.
Lynchburg's largest lead came with 5:22 left in regulation as the Hornets went up by 41 after freshman Heath Gulledge hit a 3-point shot.
The Lynchburg men's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 11 as the Hornets travel to Averett University to take on the Cougars with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
