Box Score Hampden Sydney, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 91-80 road victory at Hampden-Sydney Wednesday evening, paced by a career-high 24 points and eight rebounds from junior forward Cody Lang (Madison Heights, Va.).
Three Lynchburg players joined Lang in double figures, led by senior forward Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.), who scored 17 points and snagged five rebounds.
Senior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) notched his fourth-straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while also dishing out six assists, and senior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) also scored 12 points and made six assists.
Chaise Johnson scored 22 points to lead H-SC.
The Hornets' 20-5 record is best regular-season mark in Lynchburg men's basketball history.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lynchburg started the game on an 8-0 run to take control early in the wire-to-wire victory.

Lang went a torrid 8-for-9 from the field in the first half, eclipsing his career-high with 18 points in just 17 minutes. Wrighten scored all 12 of his points before the break as well.

Hampden-Sydney cut the Lynchburg lead to 46-42 with back-to-back baskets to open the second half, but the Hornets' responded with consecutive 3s by senior guard Jesse Case (Leesburg, Va.), and the Tigers never again got the deficit within two possessions.

Schroeder scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg looks forward to the postseason and the ODAC tournament, where the Hornets will play Thursday, Feb. 21 in the quarterfinal round at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va. The ODAC will announce tournament seeding at the end of this week.
