Box Score Ferrum, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team withstood a late charge from host Ferrum Wednesday evening to capture a 67-63 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory on the road.
Sophomore guard Carolyn Noe (Fairfax, Va.) knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 16 points for the Hornets.
Senior forward Molly Shephard (Charlottesville, Va.) and freshman forward Erin Green (Poolesville, Md.) each recorded double-doubles, both with 13 points. Shephard grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, while Green finished with 10.
Freshman guard Emily Elliott (High Point, N.C.) chipped in eight points and five assists.
Jacy Marvin led the Panthers with a 16-point effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lynchburg started slow, trailing its host 17-10 after the first period, before the Hornets rattled off a 17-2 run to start the second, leading 27-19 with 3:53 until halftime.

Ferrum tied the game at 29 late in the second, but Noe's 3 with 31 seconds in the half sent Lynchburg into the locker room with a 32-29 lead.

After a close third period, the Hornets pulled away to a comfortable doublie-digit lead early in the fourth, leading 58-47 with 8:26 left.

The Panthers cut the gap to 64-60 with just under a minute to go, but Green and Elliott helped seal the game with free throws in the waning seconds.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg will return home Saturday, Feb. 9 to take on Eastern Mennonite at 3 p.m. The Hornets will look to avenge a January 5 road loss to the Royals.
