Box Score Sparks, Md. -- University of Lynchburg's men's lacrosse team scored six unanswered goals in the third quarter to take control, leading to a 13-6 win over Elizabethtown Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Junior midfielder Kevin Rogers (Leesburg, Va.) scored three goals and made two assists for the Hornets, and senior attackman Evan Lombardo (Franklin Park, N.J.) added a hat trick of his own to the cause.
Senior goalie Patrick Cornelius (Potomac, Md.) made eight saves in the winning effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half was a defensive battle as the teams entered halftime tied, 5-5. Rogers scored twice for the Hornets, and senior midfielder Nick Willertz (Severn, Md.) and senior attackman Colin Dean (Havre de Grace, Md.) each tallied a goal and an assist.

Lynchburg made its run in the third with six straight goals. Rogers started the rally just 1:10 into the half, followed by goals from Willertz, two from Lombardo, another from Dean, and the last from senior attackman Logan Adams (Grosse Pointe, Mich.).

The Hornets outscored the Blue Jays, 2-1, in the final frame to add to their lead.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg will take the week off for Spring Break before heading back north to the Free State for the Mustang Classic, hosted by Stevenson University, next weekend. The Hornets will take on top-ranked and defending-national-champion Wesleyan (Conn.) and host Stevenson at the tournament.
