Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Chance Greene scored 26 points and T.C. Thacker recorded his seventh double-double of the season as the University of Lynchburg men's basketball team defeated Hampden-Sydney, 76-51, Wednesday evening.
Greene scored 21 of his 26 points in the first half as the Hornets (10-5, 5-1 ODAC) held the Tigers (8-7, 3-3) to only 26 points in the opening half. Thacker recorded 10 points and 12 boards, while junior Luke Romeo scored 12 off the bench -- all in the second half -- going 4-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Hampden-Sydney led by six with 12:06 left in the first half, but it was the Tigers' largest lead of the night. Later in the half, the Hornets tied the game at 19 after sophomore Dow Dunton drained a free throw. The Hornets took the lead on a Greene layup with 4:31 left and went into the break with a 34-26 lead. Lynchburg did not trail for the rest of the contest.
After a made Tigers' free throw to open up the second half, the Hornets went up 39-27 on a layup from senior Cody Lang. With 13:53 left in the second half, Thacker threw down a dunk off an assist from junior Jamil Pasha, and then four made free throws off a pair of Tiger technical fouls combined for a 10-2 Hornets' run that broke the game wide open.
The Hornets' largest lead was 27 with 1:27 left in the contest.
The Lynchburg men's basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 18 as the Hornets travel to Emory to take on the Wasps of Emory & Henry with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
