Box Score Ferrum, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team ratcheted down the defense after halftime, cruising to a 73-47 win over Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Ferrum Wednesday evening on the road.
The Hornets (8-9, 5-5 ODAC) held FC to just four field goals in the second half and an icy 16.7 percent (4-for-24) from the field. Meanwhile, Lynchburg shot over 60 percent after the break to open up the lead after holding just a two-point advantage at halftime.
Abby Oguich scored 10 of her team-high 18 points in the third period and was one of four Hornets in double figures.
Maggie Quarles scored 17 points, and Jayda Chambers and Erin Green added 10 apiece. Quarles and Green each grabbed seven rebounds, while Chambers chipped in six boards and four assists.
Jacy Marvin scored a game-high 21 points for the Panthers (4-13, 4-6).
Lynchburg will look to make it two straight victories Saturday, Jan. 25 with a home 4:30 p.m. contest against Bridgewater. The game will be the back end of a men's-women's doubleheader for the Hornets as both programs celebrate Alumni Day.
