Box Score Bridgewater, Va. -- Maggie Quarles scored 21 points, Erin Green added 11 points and six blocks, and University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team used a huge first half to secure a 67-59 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win at Bridgewater Saturday afternoon.
Quarles scored 11 of her points in the first period as the Hornets (11-12, 8-8 ODAC) raced out to a 21-12 lead.
Lynchburg expanded the lead in the second to as many as 17 and cruised into halftime ahead 41-28.
BC (13-10, 12-4) trimmed the Hornets' lead to 53-48 late in the third, but the visitors held the Eagles scoreless for a 5-minute stretch in the fourth to preserve the lead and the game.
Lizzie Davis added 10 points for Lynchburg, while Jayda Chambers contributed seven points, nine rebounds, and six assists to the Hornets' cause.
Lynchburg, winners of two in a row for the first time in 2020, will look to make it three straight at home Wednesday against Ferrum. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
