Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Four players scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough to get University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team past Randolph-Macon in Saturday's regular-season finale. The Hornets fell, 79-71, to their Old Dominion Athletic Conference rivals.
Lizzie Davis led Lynchburg (12-13, 9-9 ODAC) with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Maggie Quarles (14 points, eight rebounds), Erin Green (11 points, seven rebounds, three assists), and Carolyn Noe (10 points) also reached double-digit scoring.
Lynchburg's program celebrated Noe, the lone senior this season, prior to tip-off.
The Hornets led by two after a back-and-forth first period, but R-MC (15-9, 13-5) used a 9-0 run to start the second to grab momentum and led the rest of the way.
The hosts cut the lead to one with 8:31 remaining after a Davis layup, but the Yellow Jackets got back-to-back baskets to make the lead a little more comfortable and held on for victory.
Lynchburg will set its sights on postseason play, where the Hornets will carry the No. 8 seed into the upcoming ODAC tournament. Lynchburg will play host to ninth-seeded Hollins Monday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in Turner Gymnasium. The Hornets have a pair of wins over HU this season.
