Men's basketball sweeps Hill City Rivalry

Box Score

Lynchburg, Va. -- Senior Chance Greene led all scorers with 15 points as the University of Lynchburg men's basketball team ended its three-game losing streak with a 73-55 win over the Randolph College WildCats Wednesday evening.

Fellow senior Cody Lang grabbed 11 boards and was one point shy of a double-double with nine, and junior Reggie Davis recorded his first-career double-double as he put up 11 points and brought down a career high 10 rebounds for the Hornets (13-8, 8-4 ODAC)

The contest got out to a slow start as the WildCats (7-14, 3-9) took a slim 10-9 lead at the 11:36 mark after a 3-pointer from Brian Smith. Both teams traded blows for the remainder of the half with Lynchburg taking a 28-25 lead after junior Israel Lockamy hit a 3-pointer with 1:50 left on the clock.

The Hornets could not hold the lead into the break as a jumper from the WildCats' Smith put Randolph up 29-28 to end the first half. That was the last time the WildCats led in the contest.

Lynchburg scored first to open the second half as Davis connected for a 3-pointer, putting the Hornets up 31-29 with 18:32 left to play and sparking an 11-0 run. Lynchburg led for the entire second half with its lead swelling to 26 with 2:34 left in the contest.

The Hornets had 29 bench points on the night as sophomore Dow Dunton scored 10 and junior Israel Lockamy tied a career high with 11 points. Freshmen Noah Bullock and Jaylen Stepney each contributed four points.

This is the Hornets' sixth win in a row over the WildCats.

University of Lynchburg men's basketball will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 8 as the Hornets travel to Ashland, Va. to take on the No. 3-ranked Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
