Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Brett Rogers racked up a career-high five points, Kevin Rogers added four goals, and the 17th-ranked University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team rolled to a 16-8 win over Bridgewater Saturday to open up Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
The Hornets (2-3, 1-0 ODAC) scored the game's first nine goals to put the result to rest early. Brett Rogers led the attack, racking up a goal and a pair of assists in the first half. Lynchburg went into the break with a 9-2 lead.
Both Rogers brothers scored in the opening minutes of the third period, and Colin Dean's goal at the 10:19 mark brought the deficit to 12-2 as the Hornets cruised to victory. Dean finished the day with a hat trick.
Kevin Rogers' four-goal, one assist performance was his third multi-goal performance of the season and brought his consecutive games with a goal streak to 39. Brett Rogers totaled two goals and three assists on the day.
Trammel Robinson and Nate Shafer both wound up with two goals and an assist.
Lynchburg's defense forced 27 Eagles turnovers, and the Hornets carried a 53-35 advantage in the shots column.
The Hornets will return to non-conference play next weekend with a trip to the Mustang Classic in Owings Mills, Md. Games with No. 18 Christopher Newport and No. 15 St. Lawrence await the Hornets in Maryland.
