Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team pulled ahead early and put the game away late, cruising to a 70-44 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over visiting Virginia Wesleyan Tuesday evening inside Turner Gymnasium.
Four Hornets found their way into double figures in the winning effort, led by senior Maggie Quarles' 13 points and four assists.
Juniors Lizzie Davis, Kate Kolb, and Abby Oguich scored 10 points each for Lynchburg. Oguich chipped in eight rebounds and six assists, and Davis contributed five rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Lynchburg (1-1, 1-1 ODAC) opened up the lead with an 11-0 run late in the first period. The Hornets led by as many as 20 in the first half and entered halftime with a 41-25 advantage.
After the break was much of the same, though the Marlins (0-2, 0-1) cut the lead to 10 midway through the third. Lynchburg ended the game on a 13-0 run and did not allow a point in the contest's final 7:19.
The Hornets hit the road for the first time in 2021 on Friday, January 29 with a trip to Emory & Henry.
