Men's basketball falls to Ferrum

Box Score

Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball was handed its first loss of 2021 Thursday night as the Hornets fell at home to Ferrum College, 74-55.

The Hornets (3-1, 2-1 ODAC) fell behind early as the Panthers (4-3, 3-2 ODAC) got out to a 16-6 lead by the 14:36 mark. Ferrum continued to shoot the ball well; the Panthers made 10 3-point field goals in the first half. The Hornets went down 48-24 going into intermission.

Lynchburg tried to stage a comeback in the second half. The Hornets outscored the Panthers 31-26 in the half, and the Lynchburg defense caused 13 Panther turnovers, but it was not enough to overcome the first half deficit.

Freshman guard Landon Sutton led all Lynchburg scorers on the night as the High Point, N.C. native tallied nine points with four assists and four rebounds. Sophomore Justin Elkin contributed seven points and six rebounds.

Lynchburg men's basketball will be back in action on Saturday, February 13 as the Hornets travel to Lexington to take on the Generals of Washington and Lee with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
