Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Five University of Lynchburg women's basketball players scored in double figures to lead the Hornets to a come-from-behind 76-65 win over Emory & Henry Tuesday night inside Turner Gymnasium.
The game did not count in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings as the teams already squared off once in 2021.
Senior guard Maggie Quarles led all scorers, dumping in 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the Hornets win. Junior forwards Erin Green and Abby Oguich added 15 points each, and freshman Sammi Sever scored a career-best 13 for Lynchburg (5-1).
Green added seven rebounds, four blocks, and three assists to her line, and Oguich grabbed nine boards as well.
Emory & Henry (2-5) controlled the first half and held a 36-28 lead at intermission, but Lynchburg rallied in the third period, closing the quarter on an 8-0 run. The Hornets took the lead on Quarles' layup in the waning seconds of the quarter.
Lynchburg made it a 12-0 run with the first two baskets of the fourth and never again relinquished the lead, buoyed by two key fourth-quarter 3s from Sever and another from Green.
The Hornets' win streak now sits at five. Lynchburg will put that streak on the line when it returns to ODAC play Thursday, February 18 at Roanoke College.
