Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Lynchburg's men's lacrosse team rolled to an 18-8 win over No. 16 Hampden-Sydney Thursday in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.
The host and second-seeded Hornets used a huge second-quarter run, out-scoring the visiting Tigers 7-2 in the period, to take a commanding six-goal halftime lead. Lynchburg then opened the game up with three more goals in the third and five, including a 4-0 run, in the fourth.
Graduate student Trammel Robinson led the Lynchburg attack with four goals -- including the first two of the game -- and an assist, and sophomore Dylan Wolfe added a hat trick and an assist of his own.
Quintin Ricci was again excellent at the face-off for Lynchburg, winning 19 of his 27 bouts and scooping a game-high 15 ground balls, while Hornets goalie Patrick Moore had 11 ground balls and 10 saves. Colin Dean, Ryan Kenney, Riley Michell, and Brooks Poli each added a pair of Hornets goals.
Lynchburg (15-2) advances to the ODAC tournament championship for the seventh consecutive time, and the Hornets are 3-3 in those previous six tries.
The title game is set for 5 p.m. Saturday in Lexington at top-seeded Washington and Lee. The teams have split their two meetings this season, each winning on home turf. Lynchburg bested the Generals most recently, 13-6 on April 3.
