Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Lizzie Davis and Erin Green both tallied double-doubles, Kate Kolb added 12 points, and University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team raced to an 86-44 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over Eastern Mennonite Saturday on Wayne Proffitt Court.
The Hornets played superb defense, holding EMU to a 16-for-66 (24.2 percent) shooting effort from the field and collecting 54 rebounds to the Royals' 31.
Davis engineered the Hornet offense to the tune of 25 points, 13 rebounds (five of them on the offensive glass), and six assists. Green totaled 11 points and 10 rebounds, dishing out two assists of her own.
Lynchburg started slow, trailing 9-4 midway through the first period. A Green and-1 at the 4:00 mark jump-started the offense, however, and the Hornets took a 19-16 lead into the first period break.
The Hornets began the second period with an 18-2 run and never looked back. Lynchburg led 44-28 at halftime and allowed just 16 points to the Royals in the second half.
Kolb's 12 points put her in double figures for the fourth time in the Hornets' last five games, and Sarah Johnson pitched in nine points and eight rebounds off the bench for Lynchburg. Olivia Harris also added nine points.
The Hornets are now winners of six straight at home against their rivals from Harrisonburg. Lynchburg (8-6, 4-3 ODAC) will continue conference play on the road Monday with a trip to Guilford for a 7 p.m. game.
