Box Score Greensboro, N.C. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team won its third-straight game Monday night, securing a 66-50 victory over Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Guilford on the road.
Kate Kolb led five Lynchburg women in double figures, pouring in 17 points to go with six rebounds. Brooke Vetter and Lizzie Davis added 12 points each, Olivia Harris chipped in 11 points off the bench, and Erin Green tacked on 10.
The Hornets started the game with a Kolb layup on the opening possession, a basket that sparked a 10-0 run to complete the wire-to-wire victory. Kolb had eight points in the opening quarter to lead the Hornets to a 20-10 advantage.
Lynchburg extended its control of the game in the second, cruising into halftime with a 35-20 lead.
The Quakers pulled within seven midway through the third after Alexis Woods' 3-pointer made it 37-30, but the Hornets opened the lead back into double figures and never again sensed a threat from their hosts. Green and Davis scored seven points apiece in the second half to help maintain the lead.
For Kolb, the offensive output marked the sixth time in the last seven games the senior reached double-digit scoring.
Lynchburg's win snapped a nine-game road losing streak against their rivals from Greensboro, one that plagued the Hornets since Jan. 15, 2008.
The Hornets will look for another road win next time out. Lynchburg heads to Bridgewater Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ODAC clash.
