Box Score Newport News, Va. -- Miles Taylor scored a game-best 20 points off the bench Saturday evening, but University of Lynchburg's men's basketball dropped an out-of-conference affair, 96-64, at No. 4-ranked Christopher Newport.
Taylor's career-high came on an 8-for-12 shooting performance from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. The junior also chipped in a team-best eight rebounds and donated three assists. Cuddah Savage joined Taylor in double figures with 10 points, and he also made a trio of assists.
Lynchburg fell behind early as the Captains began the game on a 21-4 run, and CNU cruised from that point on. The Hornets never got back within 15.
Jamaal Madison led CNU with 17 points as one of five Captains in double figures.
Lynchburg (0-2) will hit the road again next weekend for Northern Virginia in search of win No. 1 on the season. The Hornets will take on Marymount Friday in the opener of the Saints' Pablo Coto Tournament with Amherst on the Saturday schedule.
