Box Score Arlington, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball could not hold onto a late lead in the Pablo Coto Tip-off Tournament and lost to Marymount 93-92 Friday evening.
The Hornets owned an 18-point lead with 7:35 to play before the Saints stormed back for the win. Senior forward Jalen Hargrove scored a career-best 13 points along with three other teammates in double-figures.
Marymount opened the game with a seven-point lead five minutes into the action. However, the Hornets took a lead shortly after on a 3-pointer from Piercen Young. The freshman finished with 11 points on 2-4 shooting from downtown.
After 38-37 trailing at halftime, Young made the first bucket out of the break to help Lynchburg retake the lead. The Hornets outscored the Saints 33-14 over the first 12:25 of the second half and built an 18-point lead. With 7:35 to go, Jordan Parham nailed a 3 giving Lynchburg its biggest lead of the night.
Marymount refused to go away and scored 42 points after Parham's bucket and stole the game from the Hornets over the final 7:35.
Lynchburg shot 47.7% from the floor and 36% from deep in the loss. Both numbers are season-highs for the Hornets. Trey Pittman scored 10 points joining Parham, Young, and Hargrove in double-figures.
The Hornets (0-3) get back in action in Arlington on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. against Amherst.
