Box Score Ferrum, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball fell to Ferrum 87-74 on Wednesday evening.
Miles Taylor and Trey Pittman both contributed double-doubles in the road loss. Pittman led the team with 16 points and 11 boards.
Facing an early deficit, the Hornets went on a 13-point run to take the lead by the 12:00 mark. Kavon James scored five points during the scoring spree and led all Hornet scorers in the first half with 11 points.
However, Ferrum held Lynchburg scoreless for the final 1:29 of the opener and took a three-point lead into the break.
Pittman dropped 12 points in the second half on 6-10 shooting from the floor. Cuddah Savage also reached double-figures in the second with four makes and a pair of free throws.
The Panthers maintained the lead for the entirety of the second half despite the well-rounded scoring from the Hornets.
Savage brought the Hornets within four points off a jumper at the 3:21 mark, but the Panthers responded with a six-point run to put the game away.
James, Elijah Davis, and Jayson Easton all made multiple 3s, and Pittman shot 53.3% from the floor. His 16 points were a career-best, and he tallied his first-career double-double.
The Hornets (2-4, 1-1 ODAC) are back at home on Saturday, Dec. 3 when they host Va. Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m.
