Box Score Bridgewater, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday evening, dropping a 63-52 decision at Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Bridgewater.
Bree Spainhour had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Hornets, while Kacey Kelly added 12 points off the bench.
BC started the game on a 9-0 run before Lynchburg recovered to cut the lead to 11-8 on Ashley Vandergrift's 3-pointer at the first period's end. The Hornets took their first lead of the game on Kelly's basket with 4:42 left in the second, but the Eagles responded with scores on three straight possessions to carry a 28-24 lead into the half.
Maddie Nimmo buried a 3 to open the second half for the Hornets, but again BC rallied with an 8-0 run. The Eagles held onto a narrow lead throughout the third. Nimmo hit another 3-pointer early in the fourth to cut the advantage to one possession again, but the Eagles rallied for a 7-0 run to gain breathing room they held the rest of the game.
Nimmo chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, and a team-high three assists. Jaden Alsberry scored a game-best 16 points for Bridgewater.
Lynchburg (2-8, 1-4 ODAC) will break for the holidays before resuming the season at home December 31 against North Carolina Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
