Box Score Ferrum, Va. -- Four University of Lynchburg women's basketball players reached double figures Thursday evening in the Hornets' 82-58 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over Ferrum on the road.
Erin Green and Olivia Harris led the Hornets with 16 points apiece, while Lizzie Davis chipped in 13 points and Kate Kolb 10 in the rout. Davis piled on nine assists, Kolb eight rebounds, and Green five blocked shots in the winning effort.
Lynchburg enjoyed its best first quarter of the season, jumping out to a 25-9 lead on the back of seven points each from Green and Harris. The Hornets extended the lead to 44-24 by halftime and cruised through the second half to victory. Davis dished out five of her assists in the third period, her best quarter of the season in the sharing category to this point.
The Hornets' defense was dominant on the evening, holding Ferrum to a 31.9 percent shooting clip from the field and out-rebounding the Panthers by a 56-31 margin. Lynchburg also dominated the paint, scoring 52 points in the lane.
Lynchburg (14-10, 10-7 ODAC) wrapped up the No. 6 seed in the upcoming conference tournament with the victory. The Hornets will receive a bye in the tournament's first round and advance to Friday evening's quarterfinals, playing in the 8 p.m. matchup against the to-be-determind No. 3 seed. The Hornets will wrap up the regular season Saturday on the road with a 2 p.m. contest at Virginia Wesleyan.
