Blacksburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association team began its spring season with 12 ribbons at the Virginia Tech IHSA show Saturday. The Hornets finished fifth out of the nine teams at the show.
Freshman Alexandria Russell highlighted the Hornets' spring debut with a first-place finish in Section A of Limit Flat, and Lily Rhodes took home second in Section B.
Lori Ohannessian picked up a pair of sixth-place finishes, earning the place in both Open Fences and Open Flat.
Shannon Huth also won a pair of ribbons, finishing second in Intermediate Fences and third in Intermediate Flat in her debut with the program.
Margaret Stell also came home with a third-place ribbon in the other section of Intermediate Flat.
Dakota Banks took second in Limit Fences, Alexis Helms and Abigail Childs were sixth in their respective sections of Novice Flat, and Joseph Gatti placed third and Madison Thomas fourth in their Introductory Flat sections.
The Hornet equestrian team will continue its IHSA season Sunday at the University of Virginia's show.
