Box Score Salem, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball fell in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals to Virginia Weslyean, 65-52, Thursday night.
Miles Taylor, the only underclassman in Lynchburg's starting five, scored the opening points of the night on a layup.
With 13:19 left in the first, Noah Bullock splashed a 3-pointer, but the Hornets trailed 15-8.
Lynchburg did not score for the next 8:09 as Va. Wesleyan created a 17-point lead. Carrington Young stopped the skid with back-to-back makes including a 3.
Elijah Davis also made a shot from deep in the closing moments of the first, but the Hornets trailed by 24 at the break.
Corey Pelham made a 3 out of the break and gave the Marlins their biggest lead of the game at 27. Pelham was one of five Marlins in double-figures.
The Hornets responded with a 10-point run cutting the deficit to 17. Suggs highlighted the run with five points and a made 3-pointer. Suggs made two deep balls in the game and moved into 10th place on the program's single-season 3-pointers made list.
With 2:07 left, Taylor made a layup and brought the Hornets within single digits, 59-50. Taylor finished with 14 points.
Lynchburg could not claw any closer than nine points and Va. Wesleyan advanced to the semifinals with a 65-52 win.
Suggs joined Taylor in double-digits with 18 points. Suggs ended his Lynchburg career with 934 points and 1,636 across his five collegiate seasons. Dow Dunton hauled in a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Hornets ended the season with a 14-12 record. The 2022-23 schedule will be released in the summer.
