Rustburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's equestrian team celebrated Senior Day Sunday with a team victory at its home Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association show, collecting nine ribbons (including three first-place judgments) along the way.
The Hornets earned 37 points to win the show, besting second-place Hollins (32) and the rest of the field.
Lori Ohannessian won a pair of ribbons on the day for Lynchburg. The junior won the Open Fences division and placed third in Open Flat.
Shannon Huth won the Hornets' second blue ribbon over Intermediate Fences, and Dakota Banks won Limit Fences.
Hannah Hillyer and Iris Moseley both rode to second-place finishes, Hillyer in Limit Flat and Moseley in Novice Flat. Margaret Stell placed fifth in Intermediate Flat, and Olivia Smith was sixth over Limit Fences.
The Hornets will continue their IHSA season Saturday, March 26 with the Hollins IHSA, followed by the Zone 4, Region 2 Championships, also at Hollins.
