No. 13 men's lacrosse boasts 13 different scorers in win

Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse hung 25 goals on Guilford Wednesday night as the team hosted their annual One Love Foundation/Step Up Night. 

Prior to the game, the video board displayed a movie documenting Lynchburg men's lacrosse's efforts to end relationship abuse.

Once the game began, the 13th-ranked Hornets started scoring goals left and right. Ryan Kenney highlighted the first 15 minutes with seven goals. He now has 49 goals and surpassed his season total from last season. The senior from Hingham, Mass. is one goal away from the centennial mark in his career. 

Chris Darminio scored for the second-straight game, Kyle Lewis tallied six assists, and Riley Schmidt, Riley Mitchell, and Ian McCarthy scored as well. 

Lynchburg tallied six more goals in the second before Guilford finally appeared on the scoreboard. Jack Speers got the scoring started in the second stanza followed by Logan Lamon.

Connor Moore scored his first of three goals with 12:22 to go in the half. He earned his first-career hat trick on a man-up goal in the fourth. 

Aidan Olmstead and Charlie Evans recorded goals just 0:09 apart from each other, and Evans rounded out the first half scoring with another one 0:49 later. 

Six different players scored for the Hornets in the second half of action. Grant Voigt nabbed the first goal of the final 30. Logan Lamon scored the first of three man-up goals for the Hornets and put Lynchburg up 22-2. Ethan Cotter tallied his first multipoint game of the year with a goal late in the third. 

The Quakers put up consecutive scores to begin the fourth, but Lynchburg answered back with two more to maintain the 20-goal lead. 

Chris Jennings put the finishing touches on the game with his first goal of the year. 

The Hornets distributed goals among 13 different players as they cracked 20 goals for the fifth time this season. 

Cotter and Gavin Grillot led the way with five ground balls each. Tyler Hadley tallied his third win in net while Patrick Moore, Zach Phillips, and Andrew Miller all served time in the net as well. The Hornets also enjoyed a perfect day clearing the ball for the first time this season. 

Lynchburg (8-4, 4-1 ODAC) visit Roanoke on Saturday, Apr. 16 at 7 p.m.
