Box Score Salem, Va. -- Dylan Wolfe scored six goals and made two assists, Marshall Rodegast caused four turnovers and snagged four ground balls, and the 13th-ranked University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team stayed on the winning track with a 19-8 win over Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Roanoke on the road Saturday evening.
Roanoke scored the first goal of the game, but the Hornets took control early with an 8-0 run and never looked back. Kyle Lewis scored the first of his two goals to get Lynchburg on the board with 8:47 left in the first quarter, sparking the Hornets' run. Riley Mitchell then scored on a Jake Rust assist at the 7:05 mark, and Lewis intercepted a Roanoke clear attempt and scored at the 3:48 mark to get Lynchburg rolling. Wolfe and Ryan Kenney scored as Lynchburg led 5-1 after a quarter of play.
The Maroons cut the lead to 8-3 before halftime, but Lynchburg put the game away with a 5-1 run in the third and then added insurance in the fourth, scoring the game's final four goals.
Michael Kraus dominated at the face-off X, going 20-for-29, and Mitchell, Rust, and Kenney joined Lewis with mutli-goal performances. Chris Darminio logged a team-best seven ground balls for the Hornets, and Tyler Hadley impressed in goal, matching his season-high with 14 saves.
Lynchburg (9-4, 5-1 ODAC) will look to make it four straight victories Wednesday at crosstown rival Randolph in another 7 p.m. start.
