Box Score Greensboro, N.C. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball freshman Jayson Easton scored a career-high for the second-straight game as he put up 14 points in a 75-59 loss to Guilford on Wednesday night.
Easton helped cap off a 16-7 run in the first half that put Lynchburg up 26-23 with 6:09 to play with a 3. Six different Hornets scored during the run. Trey Pittman and Elijah Davis sank 3s, and Jordan Parham made an and-1.
However, the 21st-ranked Quakers answered back with a 16-4 run of their own and took a nine-point lead into halftime.
Davis made Lynchburg's first bucket of the second half, knocking down his second 3 of the night. He came into the contest shooting 50% from deep and leading the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 3-point shooting.
Guilford built its largest lead of the night, 58-39, with 12:02 left to play.
Cole Murphy subbed in and put together seven points, marking a career-high for the sophomore.
Easton finished the night without missing a shot. He went 6-6 from the free throw line and 3-3 from the floor including a pair of shots from downtown. The Hornets shot 80% (16-20) from the free throw line as a team overall. Lynchburg also outrebounded the Quakers 38-32. Piercen Young and Jalen Hargrove hauled in five boards apiece.
The Hornets (4-11, 1-5 ODAC) returns home on Saturday, Jan. 14 for a matchup with No. 2 Randolph-Macon at 2 p.m.
