Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team earned its second-straight win Wednesday evening, topping Ferrum, 62-43, in a midweek Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest.
Maddie Nimmo led the way for the Hornets with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists, and Olivia Harris added 14 points for the home team.
DeMeisha Canada led Ferrum with 12 points off the bench.
The visiting Panthers jumped out to an early lead, but Lynchburg cut into the deficit late in the first quarter. Brooke Cason sank a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left in the opening period to put the Hornets on top, 13-12, midway through the first half. Cason then hit another 3 to open the second quarter's scoring, and Lynchburg finished the half on an 8-2 run to lead 27-20.
Lynchburg continued to open up the lead in the second half, outsourcing the Panthers, 18-10, in the third quarter. Nimmo scored nine of her 16 in the fourth to help keep FC at bay. It marked the freshman's seventh-consecutive game in double figures.
The Hornets (5-11, 4-6 ODAC) will look for a third-straight conference victory Saturday on the road at Washington and Lee at 2 p.m.
