Box Score Lexington, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team made 13 3-pointers Saturday but fell, 91-71, to Washington and Lee on the road in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
Maddie Nimmo scored 16 points to lead the Hornets, the freshman's eighth-straight game in double figures, and added nine rebounds and three steals to her tally. She was 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Macey Mullins also reached double-digit scoring for Lynchburg, putting in 11, and Brooke Cason scored nine off the bench.
Washington and Lee, led by Kathryn Vandiver's double-double, out-rebounded Lynchburg by a 53-36 margin and made use of 16 second-chance points to take control in the first half. The Generals led 51-32 at the break.
Nimmo scored 10 of her 16 in the second half, and Cason hit all three of her 3-pointers after halftime, but Lynchburg's defense was unable to reel in W&L, and the Hornets' two-game win streak was snapped.
Lynchburg (5-12, 4-7 ODAC) returns home to Turner Gymnasium Wednesday for a 5 p.m. game with conference newcomer Averett.
