Ashland, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's soccer junior McKenna Dahm scored on a penalty kick in the 1-1 draw with Randolph-Macon Wednesday night.
The Hornets fell behind early after the Yellow Jackets netted a goal in the 4th minute.
The Hornets earned their first chance for the equalizer after a corner kick in the 24th minute. Victoria Newman took two shots following the corner a minute apart, but Macon's keeper Abby Cook made a pair of saves. Those were the only two saves from either team in the first half.
Newman had another scoring chance in the 40th minute but hit the crossbar. A few seconds later, the Hornets drew a foul inside the box and sent Dahm to the spot for another chance to tie things up. The junior got the job done and scored her second goal of the season.
Jade Lecklider preserved the draw in the second half with three saves.
Morgan Oliver got a look at a game-winner in the 90th minute, but Cook came up with a crucial save leading to the 1-1 decision.
Lynchburg (10-3-3, 6-0-3 ODAC) have 21 points in the conference standings and can lock up the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with a win over Ferrum on Saturday, Oct. 28 at home.
