Women's volleyball drops road match

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team fell to Randolph on the road Wednesday night. 

Kailey Keough led the way with 15 kills, and the Hornets won the second set 25-20, but the WildCats emerged victorious in four.

Lynchburg scored five-straight points early in the first set and led 8-4 thanks to kills from Jaina Leek, Tori Williamson, and a block from Bree Spainhour and Princess Salifou. However, the WildCats had a five-point run of their own as they tied up the match 14-14 and went on to win the first set 25-21. 

The Hornets bounced back in the second thanks to five kills from Keough, four from Meinhardt, and blocks from Mya Green, Meinhardt, and Keough. 

A seven-point run from Randolph was the difference in the third set, and Randolph hit .268 in the fourth set and took the match 3-1. 

Williamson ended up with nine kills, and Salifou registered five with three block assists. Cassi Blackmore tallied 20 digs, and Leek put up 12 assists and 12 digs. 

Lynchburg (6-8, 3-5 ODAC) has the weekend off and restarts the schedule on Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. hosting Eastern Mennonite.
