Fredericksburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team fell to Mary Washington Saturday evening.
Jordan Parham was the lone Hornet in double-figures as the Eagles downed Lynchburg 79-52.
The Hornets jumped out to a hot start and led 7-0 five minutes into the game thanks to buckets from Jonathan Foust, Cameron O'Conner and a 3 from Piercen Young. After Mary Washington's first make of the day, Jayson Easton responded right away with a 3 of his own.
However, the Eagles took their first lead with a six-point run after Easton's make which opened up the rest of the first half to a back-and-forth affair.
After the Eagles took that lead, there were six lead changes to close out the opening 20 minutes. The Hornets ripped off a 12-point run of their own to bounce back from an 11-point deficit late in the first. During the streak, Easton and Kavon James drained 3-pointers as the Hornets shot 5-14 from deep in the first half.
Lynchburg only made one 3 in the final 20 minutes as the Eagles pulled away by the 14:54 mark in the second half.
Parham had all of his 11 in the second half thanks to a 4-4 performance from the line, a 3-pointer, and two more field goals.
The Hornets shot 12-13 from the line in the game, but 23 turnovers and the falloff from deep in the second half cursed the Hornets as they dropped their second game of the season.
Lynchburg (1-2) opened conference play at home after Thanksgiving on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
