Taylor's career-day helps men's basketball sink Ferrum

Box Score

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team took down the undefeated Panthers of Ferrum College 80-68 on Wednesday night.

Miles Taylor was the standout player for Lynchburg, showcasing his scoring prowess with a career-high 27 points, followed by Piercen Young with 12.

Lynchburg faced adversity as Jake Hart found himself in foul trouble early, accumulating four fouls with 15 minutes remaining in the game. Despite this setback, Lynchburg maintained its composure and continued to execute on both ends of the court. Landon Sutton came off the bench to score seven points with three assists.

A large factor in Lynchburg's success was their efficiency from the foul line, shooting an 90% (9-10), while the Panthers struggled, making only 50% (2-4) of their free throws

Bryant Wall led the offensive charge for the Panthers, contributing 14 points, while Alfredo Abel-Rivera added 13 points to the scoreboard.

The Hornets built a substantial lead, reaching their largest advantage at 57-39 just a few minutes into the second half. The Panthers, however, mounted a comeback and managed to cut the deficit to six points with five minutes left in the game.

Despite the late surge from Ferrum, Lynchburg held firm, and its earlier lead proved insurmountable. The Hornets secured the victory with a final score of 80-68, handing Ferrum their first defeat of the season.

Young, Alex Fitch, and Sutton knocked down 3s for Lynchburg while the Panthers went 1-9 (11.1%) from downtown.

Lynchburg (5-3, 3-1 ODAC) visit William Peace (3-4) on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.
