Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Despite double-digit scoring performances from freshmen Maddie Nimmo and Macey Mullins, University of Lynchburg's women's basketball team dropped a midweek game, 87-65, to Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Randolph-Macon Wednesday evening.
Nimmo topped the Hornets' scoring chart with 16 points and added three assists, while Mullins went 3-for-5 from 3-point range and scored 15.
R-MC controlled the game from the outset, starting on a 7-0 run and opening up a double-digit lead by the 6:23 mark in the first period. Lynchburg trimmed the deficit to as few as three points in the second, but the visitors expanded it back to 10 by halftime and used a 10-0 third-quarter run to put it out of reach.
Olivia Harris chipped in nine points for the Hornets, Kacey Kelly added eight off the bench, and Kayla Sledge led the home team with three rebounds.
Catherine Kagey's 21 points highlighted four Yellow Jackets in double-figure scoring.
Lynchburg (7-17, 6-11 ODAC) will conclude the regular season at 2 p.m. Saturday with a home game against Bridgewater. The Hornets can clinch a home game in the first round of next week's conference tournament with a victory.
